The design draft for the projection screens is based on traditional Moroccan garments, the Djellaba, Fokia or Djabador that can still be seen on the Djemaa El Fna today. It is the workwear of the Halaiqis.
The first study for the projection screens was sewed by hand in Marrakech and is made from traditional “Sousdi”-cloth. It is an abstraction of the Djellaba, without putting it’s recognition at risk. Disembodied shells as a theme for the increasing disappearance of the oral culture on the Djemaa El Fna in Marrakech.
In this draft the traditional hood is the mounting for the whole cloth width. Only the buttons and fissures resemble the forming garment.
