Several Cameras that are pointed at the exhibition room provide reliable positions of all objects in the room with a custom-engineered tracking software. They transform these into algorithmically processable coordinates. On the basis of these coordinates all autonomic objects in the room can correct their positions. They are able to make way for the visitors and provide insights into the circles.
The choice of the cameras is an important subject. On the one hand a high image resolution is required to recognize the “Fiducials” – the markers that distinguishes each object from the other. On the other hand the data rate has to be kept very low to ensure a maintainable data processing infrastructure.
We use the FireflyMV cameras from Point Grey. They meet the perfect balance between quality and data rate. The basis of the tracking software provides the OpenSource software ReacTIVision.
